Cathy Ellen DesRochers

Cathy Ellen DesRochers passed away peacefully on October 12, 2021 at the age of 73. She was born in Lansing, Michigan to Jerome and Mathilda DesRochers on December 30, 1947.

Cathy worked for the State of Michigan from 1969 until retiring in 2002 from the Department of Natural Resources. In her free time, she loved traveling the world by land, by air and by sea. Whether camping or cruising, Cathy was always up for a new adventure. Cruises were among Cathy's favorite vacations, from her first cruise in 1988 just a few days in the Caribbean to "try it out" to her last one in 2019; a river cruise to Germany, Austria, and Hungary. Some of her other cruise destinations include Alaska, Scotland, Ireland, the Panama Canal, and a 16-day journey across the Atlantic Ocean. She also drove cross-country to California and back with her sister after retiring. When Cathy wasn't cruising (or otherwise vacationing somewhere in or outside the U.S.), she loved camping with her friends. She also spent many years volunteering her time with Big Brothers Big Sisters, Shared Pregnancy, the Delta Library, and was an active member of the Lioness Club.

She is survived by her sister, Connie DesRochers, sisters-in-law, Diane DesRochers and Carolyn DesRochers, niece, Patricia (Steve) Ploehn, nephew, Chad (Paula) DesRochers, as well as many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers; John, James, Edward and Jerome and her niece, Shawn.
