David J. Surline

David Joseph Surline , age 47, passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 surrounded by his family.  David to those that knew him from childhood, knew him as Dave, Dad, 88, Porkchop, sunshine or Playzwithpoo to the rest of us. Dave had an incredible sense of humor and unmatched work ethic. He married Sarah, the love of his life, on September 27, 1997. Together they raised two beautiful humans, Josh and Jess Surline. A plumber by trade he worked for years at Michigan Plumbing and then took his skills on the road as a project manager for Facilities Resource Group, servicing Texas Roadhouses within the 48 continental states. As his desire to be home grew stronger, Dave opened his own business, 1775 Drain Cleaning LLC, where he took great pride in servicing the greater Lansing area with integrity and excellent care. Dave enjoyed many hobbies throughout his years. Playing on a dart league at LeRoy’s Lounge, shooting and target practice at Chief Okemos, RC cars, coin collecting, smoking meat on his Traeger and most recently smoking cigars with his friends at Wild Bill’s Cigar Lounge. Dave was a man that loved well, smiled often, and made others laugh with his quick wit and humor. His generosity was a hallmark of his character, as he was always willing to give a hand, offer a tool, provide a need of service, or simply show up. While cancer took his strength and ultimately his life, it could never diminish his faith, his spirit, or his humor. On January 12, 2024, Dave lost his battle here on earth, but he joined his Lord and Savior and his sister, Sherry in heaven. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Dave is grieved by his wife and children; his parents David G. Surline, Wanda and Dave Bazzett; his brother, Matthew (RaeAn) and nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will take place at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at Trinity Church, 3355 Dunckel Rd. Lansing. MI 48911. The family will receive friends at 2:00 p.m., and a luncheon will follow the service at 4:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to family’s GoFundMe account.
