Shirley Joan Seaton

Shirley Joan Seaton was called home to our Lord on August 19, 2020 at Brookdale Memory Care in Haslett, MI. Shirley was born on January 30, 1927 in Detroit, MI to Eldred and Blanche (Kelly) McCaughan. She graduated from Northwestern High School and in 1954 married Ralph Seaton at GESU Catholic Church. Shirley and Ralph enjoyed over 62 years of marriage, during which Shirley was a devoted wife and wonderful mother to her 4 children. They resided for over 20 years in Detroit, but also lived for a time in New Jersey, California, and Wisconsin, before retiring to sunny Green Valley, Arizona. Shirley was an avid golfer and bowler, an expert Bridge player, and loved to travel read, and solve crossword puzzles. In 2019 Shirley returned to her home state of Michigan to attend a Seaton family reunion and remained here in her daughter’s care. 

Shirley was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 2016, her brother Charles McCaughan and her daughter-in-law Mary Seaton. Shirley is survived by her daughter Kathy (Candy) Seaton of Okemos, MI, and her three sons: Jim (Julie) of Muskego, WI, Dave of San Diego, CA and Scott Seaton of Dublin, CA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Julie McCoy, Nicole Shirley, Bryan, David and Danielle Zielinski, Bradley Seaton, Jordan Seaton, and Shane Seaton as well as 5 great grandchildren: Keira Fultz, Henry and Parker McCoy, and Lilly and Ellie Shirley. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

According to Shirley’s final wishes cremation has taken place. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will have a Memorial Celebration of Life at a future date.
